Adopted by Jesus!!

Yesturday, our sweet Kody decided that he wanted Jesus to be King of His life.
Kody and I talked a lot about what this meant, him having lots of questions.  Kody has for quite a while now been very interested in learning more about God, his Creator and Father.  Kody has this passionate zest for life, and this spills out on to his love for Jesus.

I love how simple kids make it.  Kody like most kids don't see a lot of grey, it is all black and white to him.  Hence the decision to follow Jesus was quite easy for him.  I have so much to learn from my little jewels.

Kody and I have throughout the last several months talked a lot about his adoption story, as well as talking a lot about his foster family, his birth family, and Ghana.  Kody is starting to get to the age where he understands more and more, so these days he is initiating the conversations instead of me.

Adoption is such an integral part of our family, as Sam is adopted and as we adopted before we had our biological son, that honestly I think something related to adoption comes up every single day in our family's conversations.  All of the kids really take pride in their ethnic heritages, and in their adoption stories.  It helps that we have several art pieces throughout the house that come from either China, Ghana, Korea, and the Faroe Islands.  Our photo albums help too; I've made photo albums for each one of their adoption stories.

Really, the three of us that are not adopted, are out numbered =)  Although yes we do talk a lot about too, how we are all adopted by God.

I LOVE the little moment Sam had with our 3 bigger girls many weeks back.  I might have shared it already, not sure.

Sam was doing devotions with the 3 girls, and the opening question was, "can you imagine what it would feel like to be adopted?"  Sam says they all looked at each other, and then immediately they all burst out laughing.  To them, that was the most silliest question ever as each four of them was adopted.  They did however understand why the question was asked.  At one point in our family, I had to tell them that actually in most families, the kids are not adopted.  We still have that conversation from time to time, just to remind them.

Kody loves for me to tell him how he got his name.  His first name is after Sam, because Cody is Sam's middle name.  Adding the K to it makes it more Fareoese (this being where I was born).  One of Kody's middle names is Michael, and he got that name because when he was with his amazing foster family, one of their friends choose the name as a prophesy over his life that Kody would be like the arch angel Michael.  Kody thinks that is very cool, to be named after one of God's angels.

THANK YOU JESUS for the gift of Kody!
THANK YOU JESUS that not only is Kody my adopted son, but yours as well!
THANK YOU JESUS for the way that you've protected and spoken into Kody's life, thank you for his sweet little decision to follow you!
